Although many fans felt that Season 2 started to sway away from the psychedelic violence and gore that was the shows signature during Season 1 Christy Karacas was feeling confident about Season 3

I think season 3 would be the best season of Superjail! yet.

“Superjail”

Christy Karacas Creator of Adult swims most psychedelic show “Superjail” speaks to us at StayToonedIn about his Show, giving his honest opinions on Season 2 and he speaks about upcoming projects.

Interview Responses from Christy Karacas

Are there plans to continue making Superjail after Season 2?

That is up to the network but I hope so!

Can the fans of Superjail expect anymore reoccurring characters in Season 2 like Lord Stingray?

Yes, of course.

There’s talk on the forums that Superjail season 2 is focusing too much on storyline rather than the violence and gore that fans become accustom to in the first season. What do you make of the new direction? Is it a step forward?

No matter what you do, people are going to criticize it. If it stayed exactly the same people would have complained and if it changes, people complain. We just try to make the best, most crazy interesting thing we can.

I love seasons one and two. Making things is a process. You try things and you learn things. You take chances.

We knew that our writing/story/character development was the weakest thing about the show and we tried to address that. I think we did a great job.

If we get a third season, I’d love to combine the psychedelic randomness and violence of season one and the character development/storytelling of season two. If we did that, I think season 3 would be the best season of Superjail! yet.

Are Christy Karacas / Stephen Warbrick working on any new Shows? Are any details available

We’re hoping to start season three as soon as possible. I think Steve’s working on a horror movie and I’m working on a new idea that’s too new to know what it really is yet…

See the Venture Family as you’ve never seen them before: in a 15-minute documentary-style animated special. Follow the meteoric rise, the equally meteoric fall, and the decidedly un-meteor-like second coming of the most important band Hank Venture, Dermott Fitctel and H.E.L.P.eR. robot have ever been in: Shallow Gravy. If you’re hungry for rock, then open wide, because here comes a ladle of heavy metal fire and metaphoric meat drippings. Launched on Adult Swim in August 2004, The Venture Bros. is an inspired spoof of 1960s action cartoon shows such as Johnny Quest. Created by Jackson Publick III (King of the Hill, The Tick), the 30-minute animated series follows the bizarre misadventures of the Venture family. The Venture Bros. Special – From the Ladle to the Grave: The Story of Shallow Gravy premieres July 24 on Adult Swim.

Returning series:

· AQUA UNIT PATROL SQUAD 1 –

The series formerly known as Aqua Teen Hunger Force is one of the most popular and longest-running original series on Adult Swim and has been retooled for glory and renamed Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1. Show creators Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, felt that after 100+ episodes, they really didn’t like the name. Now Frylock, Master Shake, Meatwad and their smelly neighbor Carl appears under a new banner and new theme song, which was written, composed and performed by Joshua Homme (Queens of the Stone Age) and Alain Johannes. The closing theme shred guitar performance is by co-creator Maiellaro. The cast also does a lot of the things they’ve done over the past 10 years: look for a new place to put their stuff, pay rent, make gut-wrenching decisions and talk about life while sipping herbal tea. Aqua Unit Patrol Squad 1 premiered May 8 and continues every Sunday at 11:45 p.m. (ET/PT) on Adult Swim.

· ROBOT CHICKEN –

Robot Chicken uses stop-motion animation to bring pop-culture parodies to life in a modern take on the variety/sketch show format. The Emmy Award(R)-winning series began airing in February 2005 and remains the top-rated original series on Adult Swim. Robot Chicken is created and executive produced by Seth Green and Matthew Senreich under their Stoopid Monkey Productions, in conjunction with Alex Bulkley and Corey Campodonico’s ShadowMachine Films. Green and Senreich also executive produce, write and, with Chris McKay, direct the series, with Green providing many of the voices. Season 5 part 2 premieres this fall.

· SUPERJAIL! –

In April the hit series Superjail! slammed back in general population for a second season of destruction and continues to premiere on Sundays at midnight (ET, PT) on Adult Swim. Double the insanity. Double the crazy. Double the pain of being kicked in the guts really hard. Superjail! returns to Adult Swim with ten new episodes produced at Titmouse Studios in N.Y. Series creators and executive producers Christy Karacas (Cartoon Sushi, Robotomy) and Stephen Warbrick (Beavis and Butthead, Daria) teamed up again to take this over-the-top animated series to the next level. Chris McCulloch (The Venture Bros.) returned as a consulting producer this season and lent his talents with story editing and voice-overs.

Half way – What Do You Think?

So now that we are half way through Superjails Second season we want to know what you think so far. The general feeling we’re getting is that season 2 is not on par with season 1, mostly due to the storyline taking up more time in the episodes. Whats your opinion in this matter, was it a good move to introduce more storylines to Superjail? Or do you just want the psychedelic trippy violence? Make your opinions known.

Adult Swim Episode Summary

Two inmates, Jean and Paul, decide to take their relationship to the next level and get married in the romantic halls of Superjail! When the Warden learns of the plans, he and Alice intervene, taking over the finer details of the wedding with excitement and fervor. When Jean catches him in the act, he angrily throws his ring at him and declares their relationship over. The Warden is appalled at his plans being foiled, and declares that he will try to help the former lovers reignite their “spark.” When Jean and Paul by chance end up in next-door bathroom stalls to take care of other business, Jean realizes Paul is next door, and they make up with each other by exchanging sweet words, renewed vows, and more through a glory hole. The Warden, Alice, and Jailbot meanwhile watch above the stalls, pronouncing Jean and Paul officially married. The newlyweds ride off in a makeshift carriage with the sentiment “Just Gaymaryed” painted on the back.  Air Date – May 1st Midnight.
